Hello, and welcome to my blog site! My name’s Simon Keegan-Phipps (the title of the site is not a coincidence), and I’m a Professor in Ethnomusicology, and Head of the Department of Music at the University of Sheffield.
Here you’ll find information about (e.g.) my publications, research projects, other activities I’m involved in, as well as my general musings on ethnomusicology, teaching about music in Higher Education, and perhaps one or two things about my particular musical passions and research specialisms: English folk music; music and national identity; tradition in the digital age; music comedy; and straight-ahead jazz.
